Full schedule of weekend racing planned in the Mat-Su Valley

MAT-SU — All three area tracks are in action this weekend, with races scheduled for Saturday at North Star Speedway in Wasilla and Capitol Speedway in Willow.

North Star’s weekly “GCI Saturday Night Thunder” event is set to get underway at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night, with spectator gates open at

4 p.m.

This weekend, spectators who bring three cans of food get half-off general admission, with donations to support the Wasilla Food Pantry. For more information, visit www.northstar-speedway.com.

Gates at Capitol Speedway (www.capitolspeedway.org) open at 4 p.m., with a full schedule of stock and sprint car races set for the dirt track, which is located at Mile 75.5 of the Parks Highway.

On Sunday, drag race fans can check out Alaska Raceway Park (www.akrace-waypark.com) in the Butte, where the Napa Auto Parts Top Eliminator and Top Dragster races will be held, as will class races and test-and-tune sessions.

Gates open at 9 a.m., with time trials at 10 a.m. and elimination rounds set to get underway at 1 p.m.

The quarter-mile asphalt strip is located at Mile 10.4 of the Old Glenn Highway.
