Fund-raiser scheduled

To pass the time between doctor visits, Meghan Gonski and her mother routinely visit the Clay Canvas in Eagle River. The art store is a release for Meghan, as she gets to enjoy art, one of her favorite things.

Now, the Clay Canvas is trying to give back to Meghan. On Friday, Oct. 15, Sharyn Wiley of the Clay Canvas is hosting a pasta dinner, raffle and silent auction to help raise money for the cost of Meghan having a living lobar transplant (see related story).

"They didn't know Sharyn from anybody else when they first started going there, and now they are good friends. She has really gotten behind Meghan," Jim Gonski said. "We are very thankful for what she's doing."

Donations of supplies, auction items and money are needed. They are also looking for volunteers to help cook, clean and organize.

Items may be dropped off at the Clay Canvas at 12812 Old Glenn Hwy. in Eagle River.

The money raised will help cover the costs of the living transplant, such as travel and hotel costs for donors, as well as help with living expenses for the Gonskis, who will have to remain in St. Louis for an extended period of time following the transplant.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the Eagle River Elks Club.

For more information, interested people may call Sharyn Wiley at (907) 694-3196 or 696-7737.
