Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to fly like a bird? Join the Alaska WildBird Rehabilitation Center at 6 p.m., Oct. 8 and mingle with some of Alaska’s finest feathered friends at the Lake Lucille Best Western Inn for the fourth annual Wine Migration.
Meet the center’s live wild birds, enjoy hearty appetizers by Marian Romano, wine tasting provided by Odom Corp., liqueur sampling courtesy of Lockhart and Erskine Garden, and a no-host bar, all while perusing fabulous silent auction tables, vying for luscious goodies in the dessert auction with guest auctioneer Steve Totten and thoroughly enjoying the artful entertainment of the highly acclaimed Derry Aires!
Raffles and door prizes will add spontaneous fun to the evening.
This year’s theme, “Flights of Fancy,” will take you into the wonderful world of Alaska’s wild birds and help raise funds to feed and care for sick, injured or orphaned avian friends. The stars of the show, of course, are the birds. Some hawks, a few owls and a corvid will make their star-studded appearance at this gala event and all who witness them will be mesmerized. The birds will — hopefully — be on their best behavior for this event and will steal the show (and perhaps a few hearts as well). Guests can learn about each bird and have their photos taken near their favorite bird(s) by AWBRC’s staff photographer, Laurie Green.
Tickets are $65 each, and can be purchased online through VISA or PayPal at akwildbirdrehab.org, or in Wasilla at Alaskan Crafters/Creekside Mall or Steve’s Toyo Stove Repair on Knik-Goose Bay Road, in downtown Palmer at Madd Matters and in Houston at Alaska WildBird Rehabilitation Center on Prator Lake. VIP tables are also available. Visit our website at akwildbirdrehab.org or call 892-1670 for more information regarding the Wine Migration and AWBRC.
