Gary Lynn Ireland

Soldotna resident, Mr. Gary Lynn Ireland, 76, died Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska. Gary will be laid to rest in Pennsylvania at the Fairall Cemetery at a later date. Gary was born June 23, 1947, in Waynesburg, PA. He graduated high school and received his degree from Olivet Nazarene University. He moved to Alaska in 1969 to live in Palmer. While living in Palmer he worked as a correctional officer at the Palmer Correctional Center. Gary retired from the Palmer Correctional Center in 2010. He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and photography. He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. and Virginia (Lemley) Ireland. He is survived by his wife, Beth Oreland of Soldotna; daughter, Mary (Robert) Arnold of Fairbanks; sons, Wesley (Johanna) Ireland of Emmett, Idaho, and Preston Ireland of Fairbanks; sisters, Loretta (John) Barber of Waynesburg, PA and Laraine (Glen) Hanson of Kenai and brothers, John Ireland of Washington, PA and William (Patti) Ireland of Soldotna.
