Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Colorado Station resident Gary Rexford Hardage, 49, died Feb. 27, 2005, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, from complications of injuries received in a snowmachine accident eight years ago.
Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
Mr. Hardage was born Aug. 1, 1955 in Palmer, and had also lived in Anchorage. He was a high school graduate who worked in the family mining operation, and served in the National Guard. Mr. Hardage had been a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He loved sports.
His family wrote, "Gary never knew a stranger. As a child he loved Little League and football. He and his brother, David, were best friends. Gary so appreciated those who took time to visit him."
Survivors include his mother, Christine Holmberg, and Edward (Jay) Holmberg of Colorado Station; daughters, Sara Stolz of Eielson Air Force Base and Jolene Hardage of Fairbanks; son, Christopher Donn of Palmer; grandson, Kyle Stolz of Eielson Air Force Base; nephew, Daniel Hardage of Palmer; niece, Violet Hardage of Anchorage; sister-in-law, Lila Hardage of Palmer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Hardage, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
