Generosity of charitable organizations a great help to community projects

By To the editor:

Matanuska Electric Association has granted the Butte community Little Angels Memorial Playground committee $10,000 toward our planned additional playground equipment and pavilion installation at Butte Elementary School, according to Sally Beach, LAMP project manager. Through the generosity of MEA members who have participated in MEA’s Round Up program, we have climbed another rung to our objectives. Donors have been pleased to share in our endeavor to expand play opportunities for the children of Butte. It is our desire the playground additions achieved through this community effort will be a fitting tribute to the memories of the five Flores-Quackenbush children Butte lost to a home fire two years ago. These playground installations will be dedicated to the children of Butte in memory of the five lost little girls. Our preparations will continue through this winter and we plan to begin installations soon as possible after breakup. We plan toddler oriented constructs, percussion centers, spring ride plane, fire engine and space shuttle, little backhoe dig area, enhanced AIA access and more. Our Facebook page will keep you apprised of our progress, and ways you can be involved. Butte Area Residents Civic Organization is the nonprofit umbrella sponsoring this project, and with continuing fundraising successes this should go well, because of the generosity of charitable organizations such as MEA Round Up and the support of people like you.

Thank you again, and best regards,
