Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Georgia Lee "Grandma" Morgan, 72, died Oct. 30, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Pam.
A public visitation is scheduled at noon on Monday and a funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at the Palmer Seventh-Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Neil Biloff officiating. Burial will follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery, with Daniel Deal, William and Jay Boardman, Randy Land, Donald Huckstep and Bradley Beach as pallbearers. Floral arrangements are welcome and appreciated.
Ms. Morgan was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Seattle. She moved with her family to Alaska in 1934, where her father owned and operated the Kow Kow Creek Gold Mine until 1942 before relocating the family to Anchorage. From 1947 to 1949 she lived in Seward, where she graduated from high school.
Upon graduation, she attended Whitman College in Washington for two years and returned to Anchorage in 1952. In 1978, she made Wasilla her home. She retired from the Palmer Pioneers' Home in 1992 and was a member of the Palmer Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
She loved reading, crocheting and playing bingo.
Her daughter wrote, "My mother touched a lot of people's lives. She had a big heart and tried to help everyone she ever met."
Her husband, James E. Morgan, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Pamela and William Deal; foster daughters, Louann Peterson, Beverly Smith and Shawna Johnson; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Billy and Angie, Donny and Virginia, Jay and Stephanie, Jeremy and Melissa, Joshua and Priscilla; grandsons, Randy, Jim, Danny, Brad, Jeff and Darrell; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Krissy and Josh; granddaughters, Trista, Autumn, Misty, Stephanie, Euline, Alysha, Latisha, Amanda, Heather and 13 great-grandchildren.
