Another group of soldiers from the Alaska Army National Guard will be arriving home soon. Please join my family in visibly expressing our appreciation for their service by hanging homemade “Welcome Home” signs and yellow ribbons/bows throughout our community in our homes and businesses.
I’d like to thank those who joined my family at the Wasilla VFW post Saturday to make yellow bows and signs. We had so much fun and completed several signs. The yellow bows were more challenging than the signs, but we had a great time trying to hand-tie large, fluffy, yellow bows.
At the VFW on Saturday were several soldiers who have served one or more deployments. Each indicated how much they appreciated the visual signs of community support upon their return. We may not always know how deeply we touch the hearts of others with the simplest acts of kindness.
Memorial Day is quickly approaching; let’s get a headstart on expressing our gratitude. Hang those flags, signs and bows right away.
I would like to thank Ben Holsclaw and Mark Murphy for keeping my driveway plowed while my husband was deployed. You guys are the best.
