Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Glen W. Morrison, 70, died Nov. 10, 2001, of heart failure, at his Wasilla home in the arms of his wife, Mary.
Services will be for family members only.
Born in Tazweal, W.V., on Dec. 10, 1930, Mr. Morrison joined the 8th Army and left home at age 16. He served two years in occupied Japan after World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned home for a short time before his adventure to Alaska in 1952.
Mr. and Mrs. Morrison met and married in Anchorage and moved to Wasilla in 1996. Married 45 years, they raised five children in the Anchorage area. Mr. Morrison had been employed as a medical courier for the state of Alaska.
His family wrote: "Glen was more than a husband and father. He was a friend and a teacher, forever giving and patient to his children as well as his grandchildren. He was a treasured companion and confidant to his wife . . . a true class act. He will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him for all of his outstanding qualities."
He is survived by his wife, Mary; five children and their spouses, Dayna Peterson, David and Shelley Morrison, Garland and Laurie Morrison, Greg and Tiffany Morrison and Michael McDaniel; grandchildren, David, Anthony, Andrea, Grant, Garrett, Kaitlyn, Reace, Chance, Layne, Andrea Dooley, Amber Baldwin, Melissa Kumpost; great-granddaughter, Rachel; sister, Sue Ripley of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Ed Taylor of Wytheville, Va.; niece, Meg Ripley of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family requests no flowers are to be sent. Any donations should be directed to the charity of your choice in Mr. Morrison's name.
