Glenn Highway collision kills man

MAT-SU — A high-speed wreck at Mile 122, Glenn Highway killed an Anchorage man Thursday afternoon and sent two others to the hospital, authorities said.

Cesar Justo Lao’ing, 67, of Anchorage, was travelling southbound when the red 2003 Ford pickup he was driving crossed the centerline and collided with a 2014 Winnebago Motor home driven by William Glen Briggs, 69, of Donna, Texas, according to Alaska State Troopers dispatches.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced Lao’ing dead at the scene, and transported his body via aircraft to the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage.

William Briggs and passenger Linda Lou Briggs, 68, also of Donna, were transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center July 10. William Briggs’ injuries were listed as serious but not life-threatening, while Linda Briggs’ injuries were listed as minor.

Briggs was removed from the Winnebago after being pinned by his left leg.

One LifeMed emergency helicopter scrambled from Soldotna, while another was unable to respond due to weather.

Emergency medical services from Palmer and Sutton responded to the scene of the crash.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the wreck.
