Recently I was listening to a minister preaching on TV, he said he was asked to preach at a big church. He felt he was impressed to speak on technology and all the advantages we have nowadays, but also how it can be time consuming. With emphasis on the cell phones and how they keep us captivated for so many hours per day, Facebook, texting and all the great things we do with this marvelous little piece of technology.
He asked people to raise their hand if they felt they needed a new commitment to Christ. A few Christians raised their hands and came forward to rededicate their lives. Then he asked this question and this is what I thought was interesting, because he also showed a video of the service, he said how many of you people that didn't raise your hand thought I was going to ask you to give up your cell phone, and a large majority raised their hands. He ministered to them for a few minutes, assuring them that was not what his intentions were, but for them to understand their position as a child of God and many, many, came forward.
I most recently have had the same experience with this technology, Facebook, Amazon, national news, even texting, yes; I've had to deal with this. Christians, we must stay in the word, and here is one of the reasons why.
Recently someone said to me, they had been praying about the will of God for their life. Well, I've been doing the same thing on how do I walk the walk that he has before me?
And really, the Bible always speaks to what God has for us and what He wants us to do.
Romans 12:17: “if it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
Don't just pretend that you love others, really love them.
Romans 13:10: “Love does no harm to a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
When we are praying for the will of God in our lives, a large percentage of the answer you're looking for is right there in God's word.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians that those who do wrong will have no share in the kingdom of God. Those are strong words, get your Bible out and read first Corinthians 6:9 about those who indulge in sin.
1 Corinthians 7:31: “.... Those who use this world is not misusing it....”
looks to me like this is talking about my cell phone and that technology.
Christians need to bring their body in subjection to God's word. Like Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27: “.... I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” Notice Paul said “I”, his spirit, his innermost “being,” needed his body to be disciplined. We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in this body.
God is a Spirit, when he breathed life, His Spirit, into Adam as we see in Genesis chapter 2, Adam came alive unto God until Adam sinned in the garden.
Lots of times we Christians want to walk the walk, but sometimes we’re out of step. The Bible continually shows us how to walk, most likely 1 Corinthians 13:4 shows us where we miss it, “love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; ...”. The next 4 verses tell us how to walk the walk, that's why we have to be a doer of the word, not a hearer only.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 6:3: “ We try to live in such a way that no one will be hindered from finding the Lord by the way we act,....” NLT.
When the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us Galatians 5:22-23 “... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control,....”
We are the ones that have to walk in the spirit, God will not make us. Walking in love sometimes is not easy, but just do it, joy and peace is there.
Ephesians 6:10,11: “ finally, brethren, be strong in the Lord in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” I noticed the way one translation said this “all strategies and tricks of the devil.”
Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, shows us in Philippians 4:8: “Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable, and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” NLT.
Christians, make yourselves think on those things that are worthy.
“ Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2.
