Good Samaritan robbed at gunpoint

BIG LAKE — A stranded motorist wasn’t apparently stranded and wound up robbing a woman who stopped to help him, Alaska State Troopers report.

According to an AST report, a 21-year-old woman called troopers at 6:40 p.m., Thursday. She reported she’d stopped to help a stranded motorist on South Big Lake Road.

“The female was confronted by the motorist, who had a handgun and demanded her money. The male then fled in his vehicle,” troopers report.

Troopers say they were able to track the robber down and identify him as Phillip Moore, 25, of Wasilla. Moore was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $20,000 bail.

Court records show he is charged with robbery, assault and theft. Jail records Saturday afternoon showed he was still incarcerated.

Reached Friday, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said she did not have any more details for release to the public.
