Good Samaritans to the rescue

To the editor:

Last week when I came out of the eye doctor’s building and was leaving the parking lot, I turned onto E. Westpoint Drive. I got too close to the right side of the turn and it pulled me into the little ditch.

I was attempting to call someone to help me get out when this gentleman stopped and tried to push me out, that failed. Then a very nice lady told me she would find someone to help me, asking at the same time if I was all right. She came back three times to keep me updated. Then this young gentleman walked up to my window and told me he could not borrow a tow strap and a new one would cost $40 and a tow truck would charge more than $100. I was getting some cash out of my purse to buy a tow strap when this gentleman came riding by on his snowmachine and said he lived in the neighborhood and he had a tow strap.

While he was gone two young men stopped and they had a tow strap. So there was about four people attempting to put the tow strap onto my vehicle. They finally came up with a shovel and worked hard getting the snow from under my car. When that was done, four or five men were in front of my car and pushed me out of the ditch.

I offered money to pay for all the wonderful help, but they refused the offer. I thanked all of them over and over. I was so impressed that so many people helped me out.

Wasilla needs to be proud of all these people. I don’t know their names, so I hope they read the Frontiersman and see how proud of them I am and how much I appreciate all their help.

Even now, as I sit by my computer telling you about this story, I feel so much better about mankind. Thank all of you again.
