Frontiersman file photoPOINT MACKENZIE — The Alaska Department of Corrections announced that 72-year-old Goose Creek Correctional Center Lawrence Kobuk died in prison.
No foul play is suspected and every prisoner death at DOC facilities in Alaska is investigated by the Alaska State Troopers and state Medical Examiner’s Office. Kobuk’s death is the third in DOC custody this year and is not related to COVID-19 infection.
Kobuk had been in custody since May 12, 2010 after a conviction for second-degree sexual assault and selling alcohol without a license, dry.
