Frontiersman file photoA Goose Creek Correction Center inmate has died due to a self-inflicted injury according to the Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers were notified by Goose Creek staff at about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 16 that an inmate had been found unresponsive in his cell. The inmate was identified as Walter Brian Carter, 40, of Coffman Cove.
“An investigation revealed that Carter inflicted a fatal injury to himself,” troopers said in an online dispatch posted Sunday afternoon.
Department of Corrections staff were unable to revive Carter.
