After by what were, by all accounts, a successful inaugural event last year, the nonprofit Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation has set the date for its second-annual Government Peak Music Festival, a fundraiser for the group’s trails and parks grant programs.
This summer’s event, set from 4-10 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Government Peak chalet near Hatcher Pass, will feature the music of Big Fat Buddha, Team Easton & Junior, and will be headlined by the Hope Social Club. Along with music, food and a local craft beer garden for the adults, event organizers also have added kids’ activities and an afternoon children’s concert from 3-4 p.m.
“Bring the kids, blankets and chairs, and enjoy fun and music,” according to a news release from the foundation. “No outside food or beverages are allowed at the music festival and with the exception of service dogs, this event is pet free. No pets please. Parking is limited at the GPRA facility and we highly encourage car-pooling. Cyclists are welcomed. This fundraising event for the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation will highlight our work supporting trails and parks projects throughout the borough.”
The chalet is located on N. Mountain Trails Drive, off Edgerton Parks Road near Palmer.
According to the foundation, event tickets are available online for $40 (plus online ticketing fee) though Mat-Su Trails, matsutrailsmusicfestival.brownpapertickets.com, and will be available locally at Palmer businesses Lavender, Active Soles and Arkose Brewery.
