To the editor:
Both parties are fighting over the government debt. They bailed out big companies, which raised the debt. Every time the government spends money it raises the debt.
Here’s how to cut spending: All government people in Washington take a pay cut of half and put the other half of their wages to pay off the debt.
All the free trips they take should stop. The cost of the fuel from these free flights could go toward reducing the debt.
Retired people’s livelihoods depend on Social Security payments from the government. The government was built for the people, don’t let us pay the whole debt. Have the people in Washington help pay on the debt. This way we all would be sharing on the debt.
Things government people can do to help pay the debt down:
• Cut wages in half.
• Stop big dinners and parties.
• Reduce air travel.
• Stop loans to big companies.
• Stop taking money from the Social Security fund.
• Stop government money given for campaign elections.
This is what government people can do to help pay the debt instead of giving the hardship to the people. We never hear them putting themselves on board to help cut spending. Well, it’s time they step up like ladies and gentlemen and help out.
People of the USA should not have to take a cut on Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security.
