Governor announces PFD amount

The Permanent Fund Dividend will be $3,284 this year.

Gov. Mike Dunleavy made the announcement Thursday afternoon at the 3 Bears store along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.

PFD payments will start rolling out Sept. 20, about three weeks earlier than the usual payment date in October. Dunleavy announced that July 15.

This year’s payment combines a special “energy” impact payment and the normal annual dividend. Alaskans requesting direct deposit to bank accounts will be paid first. Those asking for a paper check will be paid beginning Oct. 3.
