PALMER — This weekend is the annual Granite Creek Pickers Retreat, a grassroots music festival featuring various folksy, local bands playing at the Spring Creek Farm. According to the event’s Facebook page, there will be 40 bands and three dances. The prices: $20 for Friday night, $30 for Saturday and $40 for the whole weekend. Camping spaces will be available for those who wish to experience the whole weekend. It is a family-friendly atmosphere but dogs are not allowed.

One of the performers, Hannah Yoter spared a little time to share her insight on the festival.

To your knowledge, how many years has the event been around?

“I feel like the festival has been happening for about eight years. There was a year or two hiatus and last year was the first year since they took a break.”

In your words, what is the event all about?

“For me, festivals are all about friends and musical family. We don't only go to perform but we go to see all of our friends ay music and to stay up all night jamming.”

How long have you played at this venue?

“I have only played Granite Creek once. I played the summer of 2014 I believe. The year before they took a break. I didn't make it last year but I am excited about the new venue.”

How would you describe your music?

“I would describe us as Americana. A bit of folk, a bit of country and bit of rock and roll.”

Any other comments or messages for this weekend?

“I hope to see everyone or supporting live music!”
