Green doesn’t support troops

State Sen. Lyda Green has gone too far.

While this country is at war and our sons and daughters are engaged in combat, Green refused to adjust the Senate schedule by one hour to accommodate the mother (Governor Palin) of a soldier to assure the mother’s attendance at her son’s U.S. Army basic training graduation.

The president of the House had no problem moving the scheduled speech presentation from 7 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, allowing the governor enough time to catch a flight Outside after the speech. This is not a political game, senator. Young men and women are dying so that you and I can sleep safely at night. The reality is that many do not return from war, and many who do return have paid a price that cannot be compensated for in any manner. Every consideration must be extended to all our military volunteers and their families. Remember, without all of our veterans you wouldn’t even have a job in Juneau.

As a Vietnam veteran, I find this action by Sen. Green almost treasonous. Not only have you insulted our governor by your disgusting action, you have placed your personal desires above service to our country. Shame on you, Sen. Green. Perhaps it’s time you explore other employment options. You certainly don't represent my best interest.
