ANCHORAGE — The Grace Christian Grizzlies used an 11-4 second-quarter run to grab a 36-31 girls’ basketball victory over the Houston Hawks Tuesday at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.
Houston held an early advantage, leading 10-7 after the first quarter, but Grace used the second-quarter run to claim an 18-14 lead at the break.
Kimberly Quincy led the Hawks with 15 points. Aspen Ruth had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Hawks.
In boys’ action, Grace scored a 63-33 win over Houston. Ben Pelesasa led Houston with 12 points. Houston was without starters Kade Taylor and Ben Bitler in the loss.

Hawks hit tournaments
The Houston Hawks boys’ basketball squad finished 1-2 at the Husky Shootout in Kotzebue earlier this month.
Houston scored a 60-49 win over Point Hope during the tournament. Kendell Ruta led the Hawks with 14 points in the win. Kolby Taylor added 11 points. Ben Bitler grabbed a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks also played Nome and host Kotzebue in the tournament.
Nome edged Houston 56-54. The Hawks outscored Nome 27-21 during the final quarter, but the Nanooks were able to hang on and grab the victory. Ruta led the Hawks with 17 points. Taylor finished with 15 points and five assists.
Host Kotzebue beat Houston 51-39. Bitler finished with 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Hawks also participated in the Whaler Invite in Barrow in late January.
Bitler scored a team-high 15 during an 80-30 loss to Chugiak. Bitler and Ruta scored 15 each during a 78-39 loss to Barrow. Bitler netted a game-high 19 points in a 46-39 loss to Mt. Edgecumbe.
The Houston girls also competed in the tournament. The Hawks’ trip to Barrow included a 38-31 win over Mt. Edgecumbe.
