PALMER — Alaska State Troopers say they seized 49 marijuana plants from a home on Gulkana Street on Monday.
According to an affidavit investigator Kyle Young filed with the case, troopers served a search warrant at the home at 2 p.m., and talked to William Joseph Provo III and his wife.
The search turned up a marijuana growing operation in the basement. In addition to the plants, Young wrote, troopers seized growing equipment and a scale. Young estimate that once dried for sale the 49 plants would have weighed just under two pounds.
“William was interviewed and stated that neither he nor his wife were employed. He said that both he and (his wife) smoked some of the marijuana and the rest he sold to one person. He said he was the primary person responsible for the grow operation, but that (his wife) occasionally helped with clipping the plants.
Court records show no charges filed against Provo's wife. Provo, on the other hand, faces four drug misconduct charges. He was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor — Young wrote in his affidavit that the Provos have two children, aged 12 and 15, who live with them.
Provo was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $5,000 bail. Jail records showed Wednesday afternoon that he had since bailed out.
