If people are spotting short superheroes, mini monsters, and wannabe witches, covered in parkas, of course, it must be Halloween!

Here is a round-up of different Halloween-themed activities all around the Mat-Su Borough.

If your ride is frighteningly dirty, take a drive through the Tunnel of Terror at the Wasilla Splash and Dash Car Wash. It’s also for a good cause-fundraising for the Wasilla High School Football team. The fun goes from 7-10 p.m. October 29-30 at 1900 Palmer-Wasilla Highway.

For most, nothing is scarier than going to the doctor’s office, so Capstone Clinic is having a Trunk or Treat. Come out in your best costume from 2-5 p.m. October 29 at 3122 E. Meridian Loop in Wasilla. You won’t need to get a shot to get some yummy treats.

For those wanting to give a little something, and we’re not talking brains to the zombies, AMVETS Auxiliary Post 9 is wrapping up it’s Sock-tober event. From now until October 31, AMVETS is collecting NEW socks for men, women, and children to be distributed to Frontline Mission, Family Promise, Mat-Su Vet Center and other local areas that help the homeless population. They are located at 1591 Creste Foris in Wasilla.

If a softer approach to October is called for, the Mat-Su Animal Shelter is hosting a Happy Meowloween Adopt-a-thon event October 29-30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For something more adventurous, Pyrah’s Pioneer Peak Farm is hosting “Fright Nights” (aka Haunted Houses). Not for the weak, seriously. Visitors will be expected to be physically capable of completing certain tasks including — but not limited to — bending, crawling, climbing, etc. It is also designed to be a scary experience and recommended for ages 12 and up, and absolutely no alcohol or drugs. Experiences include: Fear Factory Z — The zombie apocalypse has begun and humanity is fighting for survival. Late one night while running for your life, you have come upon an old, abandoned farm factory and enter seeking shelter for the night. But is it really abandoned? Eerie Acres, because old barns are creepy. There will be concession available. Ticket numbers are very limited, sold in groups of 4 (which includes 2 different experiences during your visit), scheduled for a certain time frame, and must be purchased ahead of time online. Visit the Pyrah’s Pioneer Peak Farm Facebook page for more information October 28, 29, and 31st, 6:00-10:00 PM.

Come out and celebrate Halloween and recovery at the 3rd Annual Sober Halloween Party. A family fun event with a costume contest, lip-sync battle, food, music and a show by Newsense Music. 6-10 p.m., 591 S Knik-Goose Bay Rd, Wasilla. Visit the True North Recovery Center Facebook Page for more information.

Over at the Menard Center, there will be a Halloween Spooktacular. For those feeling brave, there will be a free skate, hot cocoa, and more. The fun runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Menard Sports Center in Wasilla. Monday, October 31

For a truly theatrical experience, the Glenn Massey Theater is presenting ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ The show runs from now until November 5. Visit the Glenn Massey Facebook page for more information and showtimes.

In Palmer, they have dedicated a whole street-or a few-to bring back their 3rd Annual Trick or Treat Street. Dozens of businesses are participating in a good, old-fashioned trick or treat event throughout Palmer. Visit the Palmer Chamber Facebook page for more information and a map of participating businesses.
