Samantha Younger, 19, and Daniel Greene are the parents of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center’s first baby of 2008. The couple celebrated the birth of their daughter, Keyleigh, at 12:31 a.m. New Year’s Day, Younger said. The baby weighed in at 6 pounds, 15.9 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Keyleigh is the couple’s first child. The family is doing well, but had an initial scare that sent them to the hospital a few days early. On Sunday, the couple was involved in a motor vehicle accident. With the baby originally due today, Younger was transported to the hospital be assessed. Everything checked out, but doctors eventually decided to induce labor. Keyleigh is not the only family member to be a New Year’s Baby. Her grandmother, Kerry Solomon, was born on New Year’s Day in 1968.
