Harold Allen, 60, died Nov. 7, 2001, at his Wasilla home, of brain cancer. His family was by his side.

Mr. Allen was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Corry, Pa. He was a graduate of Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Texas. He attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and SMU in Missouri.

Mr. Allen moved to Alaska in 1976 to work for British Petroleum. After his retirement as a supervisor from BP, he worked for Udelhoven Oilfield Services, Alaska Petroleum Contractors, and was employed by Veco Alaska at the Port of Anchorage on the North Star Project at the time of his death. During earlier years he was employed by Monsanto and Union Carbide in Texas.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Lazy Mountain Bible Church on Clark-Wolverine Road in Palmer. His burial will take place in the spring at Valley Memorial Park, Old Glenn Highway, in Palmer.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the Crossroads Community Center, 7010 E. Bogard Road in Palmer, following the memorial service, courtesy of the Crossroads Community Church.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Myrtle Allen of Wasilla; daughters and their spouses, Patricia Smith of Palmer, Peggy Escamilla of Wasilla, Rhonda and Joe Soares of Kenai, Sondra Cummins and Greg Clay of Palmer, Tammie and Michael Anderson of Anchorage, Sheila and Craig Moseley of Palmer, and Susan Woellmer of Wasilla; sons and their spouses, James and Carolyn Cloyd, Harold Allen Jr. and Finnia Griffiths, all of Texas; mother, Marilynn Allen; brother and spouse, Richard and Yen Allen; sister and spouse, Debbie and Jim Nieboer, all of Florida; sisters and spouses, Jean Theiss, Sandy and Johnnie Pitchford, all of Missouri; and mother-in-law, Georgia White of Texas. Twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survived him.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Neal Allen; daughter, Donna Kraybill; and granddaughter, Breanna Woellmer.
