PALMER — The annual Hatcher Palooza is set for Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Skeetawk, located at Mile 10.6 of Hatcher Pass Road.
Hosted by Hatcher Alpine Experience, this event is meant to be an entertaining afternoon of egg-hunts, ski races, live music and other snow-covered activities.
This event is also a chance to learn about HAX’s efforts to establish the first ski lift in Hatcher Pass. According to HAX Executive Director Amy O’Connor, this will be the first time people can see tangible progress since they have begun constructing a ski patrol building and lift huts.
“This is the first time people will see true on the ground progress. It feels pretty amazing. The amount of community support we we’ve had is truly wonderful,” O’Connor said.
O’Connor said that they’re on track to open the ski lift next winter.
“It’s a pretty incredible asset for the Mat-Su and Southcentral,” O’Connor said.
