Tuesday was rivalry night on the ice in the Valley.
Houston skated to a 5-0 win over Colony at the Menard Arena and Palmer edged Wasilla 5-4 at the MTA Events Center.
Daniel Matveev led Houston, the defending Division II state champs, with a pair of goals in the win. Domnin Efimov had a goal and two assists. Owen Hunter added a goal and an assist. John Natekin also scored.
Houston outshot Colony 41-9 in the win. Dylan Shaffer notched the nine-save shutout. Traeton Adams had 36 saves.
Cooper Frank scored with 1:46 left in regulation to lift Palmer to a 5-4 win over Wasilla.
Wasilla’s Kaleb Rehak used a power play goal with just more than four minutes left in the third to tie the game at 4.
Elijah Von Gunten led Palmer with two goals and two assists. Zidane Dietz and Kaleb Von Gunten also scored for the Moose. Peyton Neumann had three assists.
Branson Hagel, Matthew DeMaster and Robert Mikulecky also scored for the Warriors.
Wasilla outshot Palmer 30-29.
