WASILLA — Houston freshman Ayden Attungana enjoyed a big Greatland Conference debut.
Attungana scored four goals to lead Hawks to a 12-0 win over Tri-Valley Friday night at the Big Lake Recreation Center.
Isaiah Squires also added a hat trick in the victory and Kai Kingery scored twice. Riley Scott, Blake Rogers added goals.
Houston outshot the Healy team 77-12 in the victory. The Hawks also blanked Tri-Valley 8-0 Saturday morning. Houston finished with a combined 145 total shots in the two-game series.
Humphreys and Tyler Chivers each scored twice Saturday. Scott, Squires, Kingery and Austin Zweifel also scored.
Josh Smoldon recorded back-to-back shutouts in the Houston net.
Houston hosts annual tourney
Houston High School is hosting its annual Big Lake Lions Classic hockey tournament at the Big Lake Recreation Center this week.
Palmer and Wasilla join host Houston in the tourney, which starts Thursday in Big Lake. Hutchison, Chugiak, Juneau-Douglas, Monroe Catholic and Kenai Central are also in the tournament.
The puck drops Thursday at 11 a.m., with Palmer meeting Kenai. Wasilla and Monroe follow at 1:30 p.m. In other first-round action, Chugiak faces Juneau at 4:30 p.m. and Houston hosts Hutchison at 7 p.m. The championship semifinals are scheduled for Friday at 1:30 and 7 p.m., and the tourney title game is Saturday at 7 p.m.
