NIKISKI — The Houston Hawks suffered a 23-20 loss to the Nikiski Bulldogs on Saturday at Nikiski High School.
With a win, Houston could have moved into second place in the Greatland Conference. But instead, the Hawks are now 2-2 in conference play and in a four-way tie for third place. Nikiski improved to 2-2 with the win over Houston. Seward also improved to 2-2 with a win over Valdez who is now 2-2.
The Palmer Moose claimed sole possession of second place in the Railbelt Conference with a 52-6 walloping of the West Valley Wolfpack at West Valley High School on Friday night. The Moose improved to 3-1 in conference play with the win.
Meanwhile, the Colony Knights were bumped down to third place in the Railbelt with a 20-6 loss to Juneau-Douglas in Juneau. The Knights are now 2-2 in conference play.
With a win over Lathrop in Fairbanks on Saturday, Wasilla (2-1) can move into a third-place tie with the Knights. The Warriors face the Malemutes at 7 p.m.
