KENAI — The Houston Hawks enjoyed a big night on the Kenai Peninsula.
Houston, a 3A school, posted a pair of wins over 4A Soldotna at two different tournaments in the Kenai-Soldotna area.
At Kenai Central, Houston used a 16-2 fourth-quarter run to grab a 38-35 girls’ victory over the Stars in the Kenai River Challenge. Aspen Ruth and Kimberly Quincy scored 10 points each for the Hawks.
Houston (1-1) caps the tourney against Southcentral Conference rivals Nikiski Saturday at 2 p.m.
At the Al Howard Tip-Off Tournament at Soldotna High, the Houston boys improved to 2-0 with a 63-55 win over Soldotna.
Kade Taylor netted a game-high 28.
The Hawks will face Kenai Saturday at noon during the final day of the tourney.
