SITKA —The Houston Hawks boys and girls squads finished without a win during three days of basketball at the Holland America Tournament in Sitka.
The Nikiski boys overcame Kade Taylor’s game-high 29 points to score a 56-44 win over Houston during the final day of the round-robin event. Taylor finished with 10 field goals for the Hawks, including four in the third quarter. He scored a dozen of his team’s 15 third-quarter points.
Host Sitka beat the Houston 62-22 on Friday.
Houston opened with a 57-41 loss to Craig Thursday. Taylor led the Hawks with 18 points. Taylor knocked down four three-pointers in the loss. Kendell Ruta hit a pair of three-pointers for Houston.
The Houston girls opened the tournament with a 40-32 loss to Mt. Edgecumbe. Kimberly Quincy led the Hawks with 14 points. Quincy finished with seven of her team’s 17 field goals. Sitka beat the Houston girls 55-22 on Friday. The Hawks closed the weekend with a 25-22 loss to Nikiski on Saturday. Makayla Moore scored 10 points for Houston.
