Hawks pin victories in Seward tourney

SEWARD — The Houston Hawks finished 5-1 during the King of the Mountain wrestling tournament at Seward High School over the weekend.

Houston scored team dual wins over Cordova, Valdez, Nikiski, New Stuyahok and Dillingham during the two-day meet. The Hawks’ lone loss came in Anchorage Christian School’s 40-36 win over Houston.

The Hawks also placed four grapplers in the tournament’s championship round. Luke Wagoner, a defending state champion, led the Hawks with a victory in the final round. Wagoner beat Austin Sjong of Aniak in the 220-pound match of the championship round.

Nichole Radmer (98 pounds), Aaron Drake (113) and Cisco Davilla (126) also advanced to the finals for Houston.
