The Houston Hawks are headed to state.
Houston earned an at-large bid to qualify for the ASAA/First National Bank 3A State Championships, which start Thursday at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Houston opens the tourney against Valdez Thursday at 1 p.m.
The Hawks finished third in the Southcentral Conference Championships in Kenai last week. The Hawks were the top seed from the North Division. Host Kenai beat Nikiski in the region final.
Houston libero Brooke Spain and middle hitter Dallas Winter were named first-team all-conference for the Hawks. Outside hitters Lilly Christiensen and Grace Gilespie were named to the second team for Houston.
Redington libero Eliana Rice, outside hitter Hannah Williams and setter Leia Norton were named to the second team.
