In a match featuring two of the top Division II teams in the state, the Houston Hawks scored a big win over the Palmer Moose.
Houston beat Palmer 6-3 Tuesday night at the Big Lake Recreational Center.
Daniel Matveev and Brayden Spain scored two goals each for the Hawks. Afanasy Efimov and Zasim Konev also scored. Brody Richard and Domnin Efimov had two assists each.
Tavian Mukaabya, Zidane Dietz and Frank Cooper scored for the Moose.
Houston jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period, and extended a lead with two goals in the third.
Houston outshot Palmer 32-16. Houston’s Kole Kite made 13 saves, and Keagon O’Bryant stopped 26 shots for Palmer.’
In other action, Colony edged South Anchorage 2-1 Tuesday at the Ben Boeke Arena in Anchorage.
Aiden Finch scored both goals for Colony. Both goals came during the final six minutes of the third period. Finch scored on the power play with 5:18 left in the game to tie it at 1, and added the game-winner with 2:05 left.
Kaden Lynch assisted on both goals. Adam Kara also had an assist.
Jamon O’Bryan made 17 saves for Colony.
