NIKISKI — The Houston Hawks held on for a 69-61 win over Dillingham during the first day of the Nikiski Tip-Off Tournament at Nikiski High on Thursday.
Senior Scott Kramer hit four three-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Hawks to the win. Kramer hit three of those three-pointers during Houston’s 21-point third quarter. Kramer finished with nine points in the third.
Theo Stone added 11 points in the win. Matt Barron and Phillip Pease scored 10 each.
Jared Miller led Dillingham with 20 points. Miller scored 15 of his 20 in the second half.
Dillingham led 17-16 after the first quarter, but took a 31-25 lead into halftime.
In girls’ action, Dillingham needed overtime to slip past Houston 53-49.
Senior Savanna James, who averaged 23 points per game during the Grace Christian Classic last week, scored a game-high 26 in the loss. She accounted for 18 of her team’s 26 first-half points.
Jenae Shannon added seven points in the loss and Victoria Baybado chipped in six.
Dillingham outscored Houston 7-2 during the tiebreaker. Tiera Shroeder scored six of Dillingham’s seven overtime points. Shannon accounted for Houston’s two points in overtime.
