The Houston Hawks are the last standing among the undefeated prep football teams in the Valley.
The Hawks continued to fly through the first half of the regular season with a 52-0 win at Kodiak on Friday night. Wasilla and Colony also entered the fourth week of the year undefeated. West Valley held on to upset Wasilla 27-25 Friday at Wasilla High., In a matchup of the top two Division I teams in the state, Juneau beat Colony 42-13.
In other action, North Pole beat Redington 48-7 and Chugiak blanked Palmer 20-0.
The Hawks rushed for six touchdowns during the lopsided win over Division II Kodiak. Noah Whitted led the Division III Hawks with a pair of rushing touchdowns, and added 55 yards on the ground. Trenton Hawes ran for a team high 93 yards and scored. Brandon Hina, Keldin Nicoll and Mark Kudryn added rushing touchdowns for the Hawks.
Quarterback Carter Seime connected with Hayden Howard on a touchdown pass. Hina also returned an interception for a touchdown.
The Hawks finished with 303 yards of total offense and held the Bears to -15 yards of total offense.
The 3-0 Hawks have outscored opponents 143-0 this season.
West Valley jumped out to an early lead and held on to beat Division II rival Wasilla 27-25. The Wolfpack scored on each of their first three possessions,
Quarterback Jaidus Huffman helped the Warriors rally back with 168 yards passing and three touchdowns. Max Larson caught two touchdown passes, one for 54 yards and another for six yards. Timothy Grisso also caught a touchdown and finished with 98 yards receiving.
Juneau scored 42 unanswered points during their 42-13 win over Colony Friday. Colony’s Jayce Underwood returned a long punt return for a touchdown. Quarterback Jack Nash also rushed for a score in the loss.
