ANCHORAGE -- The Houston Hawks are playoff bound.
The Hawks walloped Anchorage Christian 41-12 at Anchorage Football Stadium Friday to ensure their position in the 3A playoffs.
The Hawks (3-1) finish the regular season in second place of the Greatland Conference.
Peter Clemens threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Clemens eclipsed the 1,000 yard passing mark for the
season. The senior now has 1,053 yards through the air.
Taylor Richey caught a pair of touchdown passes, had 103 yards receiving, 160 return yards and two interceptions on defense.
Jed Martinson led the Hawk ground attack with 144 yards on 17 carries and
a touchdown.
The Hawks will face either Kenai or Soldotna in their playoff opener next week on the road.
Juneau Douglas 21
Colony 14
The Knights dropped their second contest to a Cook Inlet Football Conference school Friday, losing to Juneau Douglas High 21-14 in Juneau.
After Colony took an initial 7-0 lead, Brian Felix scored three touchdowns to help JDHS earn their second victory of the season.
Preston Pickett threw a pair of touchdown passes on the night, hitting Justin Coffman on a 25-yard strike in the first quarter and connecting with Joe Reza on a 36-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, Colony earned a share of the Northern Railbet crown and a first seed in the playoffs by virtue of Palmer's 21-0 win over Wasilla in the Potato Bowl.
Colony will host the fourth seed Lathrop Malemutes next weekend in the first round of the playoffs. Lathrop clinched a berth with a 37-18 win over West Valley in Fairbanks Friday.
