Tai Chi classes offered

Flowering Fist T'ai Chi offers classes in T'ai Chi Chuan. Beginning clases are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:25 p.m., and 10 to 10:55 a.m., Saturdays.

TOPS meets three times a week

Healthy weight loss class offered Thursdays

Healthy Weight Loss Class is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursdays through Feb. 23 at Dayspring Enrichment Center in Wasilla with instructor Delisa Renideo. Cost is $100 per person for the seven-week series. Register online at YesToLife.info or call Delisa or Charlie Renideo at 373-1526.

Water exercise classes offered

Arthritis Foundation is conducting water exercise classes at the Palmer pool from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursdays. The cost is $55 for 10 visits. For more information, call 745-0207.

Living with chronic illness workshops continue

A six-week workshop titled "Living Well Alaska: Better Choices Better Health," designed for people with all kinds of chronic illnesses, will be offered at three locations around the Mat-Su Valley.

• Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through Jan. 31 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer.

• Tuesdays, 1 to 3:30 p.m., through Feb. 14 at Palmer Senior Center on Chugach Street.

• Mondays, 12:30 to 3 p.m., Jan. 30 to March 5 at Wasilla Senior Center, 1301 Century Circle.

Research on this program has shown that participants are able to manage their symptoms and communicate more easily with doctors and loved ones.

People who take the program feel better, are less limited by their illness and may spend less time in the hospital. For more information or to sign up, contact 745-3677.

Alzheimer's resource group meets Thursdays

The Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska group meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays at Trinity Barn Plaza, Mile 2.2 Palmer-Wasilla Highway. Learn how to choose a health care professional and how to work with the health care team.
