As part of the program, participants have access to a series of weekly lectures on health and weight loss topics, sponsored and organized by Mat-Su Rgional Medical Center.
The first of the Wednesday lectures is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 16. Rebecca Moore, a certified diabetic educator, will speak about healthy dieting. Following Moore, Brenda Sheldon, a physical thereapist and director of Regional Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, will speak at the Jan. 23 session titled “Exersize Options — the Key to Sustained Weight Loss and Maintenance.” Rounding out the month Jan. 30 will be home economist Julie Cascio with the University of Alaska Cooperative Extension Service, who will present on quick and healthy low-cost meals for families on the go.
Because of the initial popularity and success of Trim to Win, the hospital requests those planning to attend RSVP at e.ripley@msrmc.com. The sessions are scheduled to be held at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Urgent Care Center in Wasilla, but could be moved if participation exceeds capacity at the center.
