Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Helena Elizabeth Myers, 79, died Sept. 8, 2004, at her home in Palmer, of natural causes.
An open house will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at 415B Melissa Rose Circle, Palmer, AK 99645.
Mrs. Myers was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Spokane, Wash. Mrs. Myers moved to Alaska in 1971 from Chico, Calif., and earned a master of education degree from the University of Anchorage Alaska.
She retired in 1981 from the Mat-Su Borough School District.
Mrs. Myers was a member of the First Church Of Christ Scientist in Wasilla and did community service as a tutor for Job Corps.
She enjoyed quilting, tutoring, flowers and home.
Her family wrote that she was a "loving mother."
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Louise Myers; son, Jack Holt; brother, Roy Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ed Underwood; sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Betty Johnson; companion, Mike Jones and a host of grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary in Palmer.
