To the editor:
It is football season! Oct. 4 is the famous Valley Potato Bowl between Palmer and Wasilla high schools at Wasilla! There are actually two competitions that evening — on and off the field. Once again, MY House will be at the game collecting donations from both communities to see who can bring in the most for our Valley teens.
The Wasilla and Palmer high peer groups within the schools are campaigning for food items for the teens. The Burchell Peer Group Helpers will once again be at the game to collect donations and money. (If attending, please put a couple extra bills in your pocket to warm their hearts as they collect, because the rest of their bodies will be freezing if it is like last year!)
Presently, our clothing area is overflowing with clothes and we are out of room, but we have needs in other areas. Gas cards that can be bought at CARRS are in great need for teens trying to get to school or to work. Instead of purchasing a card for a large amount, we ask it be distributed into several smaller ones to meet the needs of more students and help monitor the use.
Other current needs include bottled water, cans of tuna or chicken, combs/brushes, deodorant, feminine products and a huge need for male and female undergarments still in packaging. Thank you for your support and hope to see you at the game!
