The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Divisions of Habitat and Wildlife Conservation invite the public to attend public scoping meetings to share information and concerns about the Susitna Flats State Game Refuge.
These meetings are the first step in Fish and Game’s effort to revise the Susitna Flats State Game Refuge’s management plan, which was originally written in 1988. Fish and Game’s planning staff would like to know how members of the public use the refuge and its resources and are seeking input on how to best manage activities and public uses in the refuge. Harvest regulations are under the authority of Fish and Game and cannot be changed via this planning process.
A public scoping meeting is from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Nov. 27 at the MTA Headquarters Building, 480 Commercial Dr., Palmer.
Members of the public who cannot attend a scoping meeting are welcome to submit comments via the comment form attached to this story online, or by email, through Dec. 31.
ADF&G will be assembling an inter-agency planning team that will begin meeting after the public comment period closes. The planning team will meet monthly to revise the Susitna Flats SGR management plan, and will include representatives from agencies with land-management responsibility within the SGR.
