Here we go: just before the first rally

Greensburg, Penn. — I'm eating breakfast with some of the other press at the Four Points Sheraton, a nice joint in this small town.

A crew member from CNN was talking all about a huge fight between McCain staffers right in front of the press. He said largely the press has been kept away from Palin, and it's been pretty controlled here.

Leigh Smith, one of the McCain press people, said she didn't sleep last night because she always gets nervous before rallies. Maybe for good reason, the cab driver who brought me here contradicted what the coffee shop worker said last night and told me this is Democrat country. I'm seeing more and more Obama signs as the sun begins to come up.

I'll post more when we get to Latrobe, Penn. for the first rally of the day. Secret Service is giving me my clearance now.
