History is repeated

To the editor:

On Feb. 27, the MEA nominating committee interviewed three candidates for two at-large seats on the board of directors and proved history repeats itself. Two of the three candidates are credentialed. Two of the three candidates are present directors.

My first application for an at-large board seat occurred nine years ago. The committee refused to recommend me. Application by petition resulted in my becoming a director and members have re-elected me twice since the April 1, 2000 election. This past Friday the committee repeated history by refusing to recommend me. In fact, the press release from MEA Administration relating to the committee decision omitted (conveniently?) my name. I will be on the ballot by petition and hope that the members of MEA will also repeat history on April 25.

MEA Board president
