Day 3 –
Well here I have made it to day 3 of the completion.
Today was also day 1 of my workouts – Mission Accomplished!! I was up and out of the house at 6:30 a.m., on the bike at the sports complex by 6:45 and immediately I felt the need to push myself.
The negative side of me wanted to quit, I even found myself able to justify it with thoughts like no one will even know you quit – well no one but me of course. The positive side of me just kept saying, “You got it mama” and “This is for the girls”. I would internally remind myself to work through the burn and keep on going. Little by little, I could see that more time had elapsed since I started and eventually that became yet another motivation for me.
I set the recumbent bike for 30 minutes and started to read a book. After only five minutes I was ready to call it quits, but I didn’t allow myself … then eventually 15 minutes had passed and I could honestly tell myself that I had made it half way, so that meant I could finish the other half just as I had done the first. five minutes at a time I just kept telling myself I could do it and then 30 minutes was over and the cool down began – another two minutes, but at a slower pace. When it was all said and done 32 minutes and 8.5 miles had elapsed. Wow, that calculates down to like a four-minute mile … I have never, walked, ran, or biked a mile in 4 minutes …. But I did today!! I am thinking that I will just start with 30 minutes at a time and work my way up to more – at this time I plan to go to the gym 4-5 times a week. As the times get longer I may be able to cut down the number of times per week, but as long as I continue to feel like I am benefitting from it, I know I will amaze myself with what I can accomplish.
Planning for the day now – the food so far today has been healthy and all indications are that I will continue the rest of the day in the same fashion. I have a full plate of work ahead of me, but thankfully, that will not stand in my way of being successful today. I talk to others, family, friends, co-workers etc… about my experiences as they are happening and the feedback and encouragement that I get from them is phenomenal – I hope they are inspired by my successes as much as I am inspired to keep going by the support I feel from them!
Until Next Time,
Amber
