The Crusader of Christ Circle of Light Mission is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving meal.
Every year, the organization offers financially distressed families and individuals in the Mat-Su Valley a Thanksgiving box which consists of a turkey, corn on the cob, stuffing mix, sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy mix, as well as a pumpkin pie.
A limited amount of boxes are available, said Reina Matson, one of the organizers. Since resources are limited, the program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The Crusaders of Christ Circle of Light Mission tries to help as many people as possible, though.
Volunteers are needed to help put together the food boxes, and to deliver them to families in need around the Thanksgiving holiday.
Those wanting to volunteer can call Matson or Alan Branson at 357-6538 or e-mail them at mission@mtaonline.net.
Donations of food are also being accepted.
Messiah taking the stage
The 11th annual Mat-Su Community Performance of Handel's Messiah is planned for Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, next to Wasilla High School.
Every year, the program is one of the highlights of the holiday season. And as always, admission is free.
