Home invaders arrested

WASILLA — A pair of Anchorage residents landed in jail on robbery charges Monday after they allegedly tried to use force to collect on a debt.

According to a press release from Alaska State Troopers, the home-invasion-style robbery was reported shortly before 4 p.m. at a Wasilla-area home.

“Two subjects, identified as Tarah Hargrove, 24, of Anchorage and Miguel Myers, 24, of Anchorage, entered the residence brandishing a knife and a firearm demanding repayment of a past debt,” troopers report.

They say the victim wasn’t harmed and that patrol troopers caught up with Hargrove and Myers.

Myers allegedly tried to give troopers a fake name. He also was wanted on a $10,000 warrant for violating his probation. Court records show prosecutors are trying to revoke his probation in a 2011 felony theft case out of Anchorage. The rest of his record is mostly traffic offenses with the exception of another felony theft case in 2011 and a couple of older misdemeanor assault cases.

Hargrove’s record contains nothing but traffic offenses, according to court records.

Both Myers and Hargrove were charged with theft, robbery, assault, and weapons misconduct and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Myers was hit with an additional charge of providing false information to a peace officer.

Hargrove’s bail was set at $20,000. Because of the warrant and that extra false information charge, Myers’ bail was set at $70,000. Both will need to find someone to watch over them before they can be released on bail.

The two were still in custody Thursday afternoon.
