Homework just as beneficial to parents

To the editor:

For the past several years, I wished I had lived near an elementary school so that I could take some small children into my home after school to help them with their homework. Wouldn’t a working mom or dad be happy to get home from work and not have to sit down with their child and see them through that ordeal every night? I know when I was a working mom I sure spent a lot of evenings begging my kid to get his homework done.

Just think about it. You people who are staying at home and wishing you had a part-time job and you live on a bus route. The child could be dropped off at your home, you could give the child a snack, listen to how their day was and turn off the TV and listen to them read, help with a math problem, talk about history or science and know when the child left your home he/she was done with school for the day. It would make you feel as good as the parent and imagine the teachers happy look the next day.

Last year I helped my granddaughter after school. She was in seventh grade and I sure learned about history again, I found her American literature a lot of fun, too. Anyway, I am sure a parent would be glad to pay you a small salary not to have to deal with homework after the busy and mind-boggling day she dealt with at work.
