To the editor:
What a fine mess we have gotten ourselves into, now! The National Republican Party is throwing its full support behind Tea Party candidates, who have taken advantage of low voter turnout in primary elections to win and create an illusion of public support. Here in Alaska, for example, less than half of the 27.5 percent turnout, or 13 percent minus the Democrat vote, actually voted for Joe Miller, which represents very, very weak public support, indeed.
Instead, the National Republican Party should withdraw support, and force these Tea Party candidates to form a distinct political party, because a divided party will assure victory to the Democrats. Furthermore, savy Democrats will, now, send some of their contributions to Joe Miller’s campaign to enable him to take more votes away from a Leesa Merckouskie ex-party campaign with a view to greatly enhance odds of a victory for their man, Scott McAdams. Hooray for democracy!
