As the snow falls and temperatures dip, one Valley woman is in need of some help to keep a roof over her head.
The Hope's Helping Hand program is trying to help with roof repairs, through community donations.
"I've been patching it and patching it and patching it, but you can only patch it so many times," the woman, who is completely disabled with a life-threatening illness, said. "What I need is an overroof over my trailer. I know they're pretty spendy, and I don't have the means to do it myself."
The Hope's Helping Hand program is run by the Frontiersman to help others in the community get through tough times.
All money donated to the program goes directly to helping others in a time of need -- there are no administrative costs incurred by the program.
If you would like to donate money to the program, checks may be made payable to Hope's Helping Hand and mailed to the Frontiersman, 5751 E. Mayflower Ct., Wasilla, AK 99654. Money can also be donated at the Frontiersman's office, located on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, across from Hyer Road.
The program runs throughout the year, not just at the holidays, helping others as their living situations change unexpectedly.
In the past, the program has helped families with housing after a fire destroyed their home, it has helped a handicapped individual with an elevator lift in their home as well as helping with medical costs for several Valley residents.
For more information about the program, interested people can call the Frontiersman at 352-2250.
